A guided, one-on-one introduction to Backology’s deep spine muscle training approach—designed to help you understand your spine strength and experience controlled activation of deep spinal muscles.

The Introductory Training Session (ITS) is a 60-minute, one-on-one session with a certified Powerspine trainer designed to introduce you to Backology’s strength-based approach to training the deep muscles of the spine.
This session is intended for individuals who want to learn more about Backology’s deep spine muscle training services before deciding whether to continue.
The experience is educational and experiential in nature and does not involve medical diagnosis or treatment.
During your Introductory Training Session, you’ll be guided through a structured, one-on-one experience designed to introduce you to a form of spine training that most people in the U.S. have never experienced.
A review of your personal spine health journey and training goals.
Guidance through your very first deep spine muscle training session.
A personalized setup on our specialized lumbar and cervical extension machines.
Clear explanations of how deep spinal muscles differ from traditional “core” muscles.
This is not something you can replicate with bodyweight exercises, stretching, or conventional gym equipment!
“What we do at Backology is very different from anything you’ll find in a typical gym or fitness program in the U.S. That’s exactly why we offer an Intro Training Session. It gives you the opportunity to experience this approach first-hand—to actually feel the difference between deep spine muscle training and everything else you’ve tried. Until you experience it, it’s hard to fully understand just how unique it is.”
~ Dr. Brad Semp - Founder of Backology

The Introductory Training Session is a one-on-one, in-person session and the required first step for anyone considering our Powerspine deep spinal muscle training. Its purpose is to give you first-hand experience with:
[1] What the training actually is
[2] How it feels
[3] How your body responds
During the session, we guide you through your first supervised training experience, explain how deep spinal muscles affect spine function, and make sure the training is a good fit before moving forward. This session is about education, clarity, and experience—not a sales pitch.
Your session typically includes:
[1] A brief discussion of your spine and activity history
[2] Education on deep spinal muscles vs. traditional “core” muscles
[3] A guided experience on the Powerspine machines
[4] Clear explanation of what the experience means for you and your next steps
The session lasts about 60 minutes and is fully supervised.
You can wear any comfortable clothing. The only requirement is flat-soled footwear—no high heels. Tennis shoes, dress shoes, or other flat-soled shoes are all fine. Some members even choose to train in socks. Gym attire is absolutely fine, but not required.
Yes. During your session, your Powerspine trainer will carefully assess your range of motion (ROM) both without load and with load. You will never train in a range where you feel pain.
The Powerspine machines use a unique fixation system that stabilizes the body and isolates the deep spinal muscles. This allows us to almost always find a safe, pain-free range of motion for training—even if you arrive with existing back or neck pain.
All movements are slow, controlled, and fully supervised, with your comfort and safety as the priority at all times.
No. Backology does not provide medical diagnosis, medical treatment, physical therapy, or chiropractic care.
Powerspine training is strength training for deep spinal muscles, similar in nature to resistance training, but specifically designed to target muscles that are difficult or impossible to train with conventional exercise.
We focus on muscle strength and function, not medical care.
The $95 fee reflects a professional, one-on-one session with expert guidance and specialized equipment. There is no pressure to continue.
Our role is to educate you and help you decide whether ongoing training makes sense for you.
If it does, we’ll explain your options. If it doesn’t, you’ll still leave with valuable insight.
If our certified Powerspine trainer determines during your Intro Training Session that our spine strength training approach is not a fit for you, your session fee will be refunded in full.
